Endless War 3 is a top down shooter where you guide one soldier across battlefields, from the Iraq War to a future war against mutants. You can play it right here in your browser. Press play, pick a campaign, choose your weapons and fight your way to the flashing end marker on each map.

Vitaly Zaborov's 2007 sequel is bigger than the name suggests. It adds 30 new missions and also brings in the campaigns from the first two games. Below you'll find the controls, what each campaign contains, how to build a loadout and what to try when the game stops responding.

Controls

Move with W, A, S, D, aim with the mouse and click to fire. The rest of the keys handle weapons and your squad:

  • 1, 4: switch between the weapons you're carrying. Player notes suggest 1 is the primary, 2 the secondary, 3 melee and 4 grenades but confirm the order on your first mission.
  • Space: a weapon's alternate attack.
  • R: reload.
  • G: drop your current gun and pick up another.
  • Q: command mode, for sending allies where you want them.

The original release also had a Controls button in the main menu for remapping keys. Q deserves the most practice. Your allies have little staying power, and community tips on Cheatbook advise using command mode to point their fire at the toughest enemies.

  • Rushing ahead alone gets you killed. Treat allies as a distraction that buys you time to advance and don't count on them to win fights.

The Four Campaigns and 30 Missions

Endless War 3 has four campaigns with 30 missions in total, Iraq War (8), WW2 Pacific (10), WW3 Humans (6) and WW3 Mutants (6). It also lets you replay campaigns from the earlier games so it works as a small collection of the series' best known settings.

CampaignMissionsMission names include
Iraq War8Hostile Shores, City Fight, Blown Bridge
WW2 Pacific10Ordinary Slaughter, Jungle Camp, Infantry Rush
WW3 Humans6Burned to the Ground, Sniper Position, End of All Life
WW3 Mutants6Burning Steel, Backstab, Land of the Alive

Pick by session length. The two WW3 campaigns have six missions each, which makes them the quickest to finish. The Pacific campaign is the longest at ten. One 2007 review noted that some enemy shots in the future campaigns can bounce, which means cover isn't always as safe as it looks.

The wiki's series page calls the last campaign Aliens, while its mission list and the Speedrun.com categories say Mutants. This guide uses Mutants.

Building a Loadout

Before each mission you choose a primary weapon, a secondary weapon and a grenade type. Ammo is limited so the secondary matters more than it seems, you'll run the primary dry at the worst moment. If the starting selection feels restrictive, look in the options menu for the setting that makes every gun available in any mission.

Save your settings before starting a mission. One player note describes it as a grey ball in the options screen, but that's an old description so look for the equivalent in your version. Players repeat two loadouts on cheat and tip pages. Neither has been tested for this article so read them as suggestions:

  • Range plus close up: a rocket launcher as the primary and a flare gun as the secondary, with frag grenades. The reasoning is sound. Rockets handle groups and distance and the flare gun covers close range.
  • Minigun and flare gun, with splitter or frag grenades, taking enemies one at a time.

Old cheat pages also describe a hold R weapon swap trick that supposedly blends the behavior of two guns. These are unverified posts from the Flash era. The same submissions mention accuracy penalties and heavy lag on some combinations and the trick may not behave the same in every browser version. Try it in a throwaway run and don't build a strategy around it.

If the Game Stops Responding

  • Click inside the game window first. Browsers only send keystrokes to a page once it has focus.
  • The mission won't continue after pressing OK. A player comment on Kongregate says stepping off the flashing end marker fixes it. It isn't officially documented but it costs nothing to try.
  • Keys ignored. An older Kongregate comment blamed Chrome for dead keys. Reloading the page or switching browsers is the usual next step.
  • Phones and tablets are a poor fit. The game is built around WASD and a mouse and Addicting Games states that it doesn't support mobile devices.

What Keeps It Worth Replaying?

  • Loadout choice for every mission, which changes how the same map plays.
  • Settings from World War II to a future war, spread across four campaigns.
  • A speedrun scene. Speedrun.com has leaderboards for each campaign and an all campaigns category if you want to see how fast the levels can be cleared.

Where Endless War 3 Fits in the Series?

GameWhat sets it apart
Endless War 1Five campaigns: US, Red Army and German WW2, plus US and Vietcong Vietnam War
Endless War 2Four campaigns, adds the space bar alternate attack and an ammo/weapon info bar
Endless War 3Four new campaigns, per mission loadouts, earlier campaigns included
Endless War 4Three campaigns of four missions each, adds going prone and a revised ally system
Endless War 5, 7Tank warfare in WW2 (American, Soviet, German) instead of a single soldier

Conclusion

Endless War 3 rewards patience over speed. Learn command mode, pair a long range weapon with a close up one and keep your allies in front of you. To ease in, start with one of the six mission WW3 campaigns, then move on to the longer Pacific run.

FAQ

Can I play Endless War 3 unblocked at school?

The game needs no download and no plugin so it loads like any ordinary web page. Whether it opens depends on your network's filter and no game page can promise otherwise. You'll also need a keyboard so a school Chromebook works but a tablet usually won't.

Can I play Endless War 3 on my phone?

Not comfortably. Movement, weapon switching, reloading and command mode all sit on the keyboard and Addicting Games says the game doesn't support mobile. A desktop or laptop is the realistic option.

How many missions and campaigns does it have?

Thirty new missions across four campaigns, with Pacific the longest at ten. The earlier games' campaigns are included too, which is why the sequel is larger than its title suggests.

How do I unlock all weapons?

Open the options menu and enable the setting that makes all guns available in every mission, then save. Player notes describe it as a grey ball, though the layout may differ in your version. Look for it before starting a mission.

Is Endless War 3 still playable now that Flash is gone?

Yes but not through the original plugin. Adobe ended Flash support and Flash games now run through emulation or archive projects. Some sites, such as Miniplay, list the game as unsupported so a working browser version like this page is the easy route.
